This course has been designed for workplaces that require a fully trained First Aider to comply with the requirements of the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981If you are in any doubt you can refer to the HSE website but for our Land Based Training industry you need to do that all embracing “Risk Assessment” and no doubt you will come up with the idea that lone workers in Forestry, Estate Maintenance, Arboriculture, Agriculture and Construction are high on the list for the full 3 day First Aid at Work Course.
On completion of training, successful candidates will be able to:
• Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the following.
– The importance of preventing cross infection.
– The need for recording incidents and actions.
– The use of available equipment.
• Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
• Provide appropriate first aid for injuries, including:
Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries, chest injuries, burns, scalds and eye injuries.
• Sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock.
• Recognise the presence and provide appropriate first aid for major illness, including:
Heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes.

However, the one day Emergency First Aid at Work Course is a perfect solution if there are many staff to train. After all, it is better to have lots of people who can manage the basic situation rather than rely on one person who is not necessarily available in case of emergency.
