The new regulations we are looking at are Pest Control – changes to the use of Aluminium Phosphides
Following recent changes in legislation in the purchase and use of metallic phosphides, Lantra Awards are working closely with RAMPs to produce a Level 2 qualification ‘Safe use of Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate Pest Control’ and training to underpin the qualification which were launched early this year. Anyone using or purchasing metallic phosphides will be required to hold a Level 2 qualification.
Learners who take the existing Lantra Awards training courses for Rabbit Control, Mole Control, Rabbit and Mole Control and Rodent Control including Aluminium Phosphide before November 2013, certificates will be recognised until November 2015 for the purchase and use of metallic phosphides (Aluminium Phopshide).
Grandfather rights (anyone born before December 1964) is only applicable to anyone who uses metallic phosphide for their own personal use on their own land and will be required to complete a Level 2 Award after November 2015.
Newlands Training will be offering the appropriate up to date courses to reflect this change in legislation.
We run a regular series of the Pesticide Application courses leading to City & Guilds NPTC Certification. There is a good uptake of these courses in farming, conservation, utility, councils, golf courses and forestry. The most popular demand is for PA6a Hand Held Application ( knapsack ) Spraying, and PA2a Boom Mounted Spraying using Tractors or ATvs.
